Famous Eighties pop star Paul Young is back with his wife – three years after they split up.
Ex-model Stacey Young, 44, left Paul for Israeli businessman Ilan Slazenger after nearly 20 years of marriage.
Eight weeks after the separation it emerged she was three months pregnant but it was never confirmed who the father is.
Speaking from the family home in Barnet, North London, Paul, 53, said yesterday: “Yes, we are back together.”
He added: “It has been a gradual thing over the last few months.”
Friends are said to be delighted by the reunion. One commented: “Stacey is the love of Paul’s life. He has never stopped loving her. The last few years have been a
nightmare for them both.
“But they realised they couldn’t live without each other and that it wasn’t worth throwing away 20 years of marriage.” Stacey left Paul for Ilan, 46 – who ran his computer marketing firm a few miles from their £1.5million home – in March 2006.
The affair included a trip to Spain where Ilan had a property business.
Paul and Stacey have three children, Levi, 22, Layla, 14, and Grady, 13. The source added: “Paul put a brave face on it but the break-up left him in pieces. If it weren’t for the kids who knows how he would have coped.
“They both know they can’t just pick up where they left off, not least because there’s a new child in the picture. But they’re prepared to work hard and want to heal the rift.”
Paul had a string of 80s hits including a version of Daryl Hall’s Every Time you Go Away and Marvin Gaye cover Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home).
He also sang the opening line on the 1984 Band Aid single Do They Know It’s Christmas?
After the split, Paul refused to apportion blame. He said at the time: “It’s not easy. But she was my mate when we got married, so why shouldn’t she be my mate now?”
Would you do it? Raising a child from the cheaters? Would you take your partner back? Let me know….
